sanctuary for your Soul
The Franciscan Arts Initiative embraces the spirit of St. Francis, whose deep reverence for creation inspired early Renaissance artists to weave nature into their work. Rooted in this tradition, the friars of our Province have long recognized the transformative power of the arts in building and uplifting communities.
Through the Franciscan Arts Initiative, creative expression is nurtured in sacred spaces. At Mount Saint Francis in Indiana, studio and gallery spaces, along with tranquil outdoor settings, invite artists of all ages to explore both spirituality and creativity. At Holy Cross Retreat Center in Mesilla Park, NM, the annual Franciscan Festival of Fine Arts brings together artists and art lovers in a joyful celebration of craftsmanship and inspiration. This initiative ensures that the connection between faith, beauty, and artistic expression continues to be honored and cherished.
The Franciscan Earth Care Initiative, launched in November 2018 by the Conventual Franciscan Friars of the Province of Our Lady of Consolation, is rooted in the Franciscan tradition of honoring creation. This initiative integrates environmental stewardship into daily life, inspired by St. Francis of Assisi's deep reverence for nature.
Greening the Mount at Mount St. Francis has served as a pilot program, leading to Province-wide and international efforts that promote sustainability, education, and eco-friendly practices.
Together, the Franciscan Earth Care Initiative embrace the Franciscan values of care, respect, and responsibility for creation—ensuring a sustainable future for generations to come.
